CJ managed to escape Kentucky, his home state, which he describes as a broken merry-go-round: “The people there are perpetually stuck on this carousel. They know nothing else but the ride. Even though they are nice on the outside, if you are anything but the same as them, you're gonna get spit up and fed to the lions." He is now trying to build a new life in Denmark. But finding love and acceptance isn’t always easy when your own family rejected you for who you are.

lumix festival no. 6 exhibition
The 6th LUMIX Festival for Young Photojournalism took place from Wednesday, June 20th until Sunday, June 24th, 2018 on the area of the former World exhibition Expo 2000 in Hannover, Germany.
"Take Me As I Am" was one of several films exhibited at the festival which was truly an inspiring and educational festival. During the festival the film was screened for a Q&A session as well. Some scenes from the week are below.
