Anti-Judicial Reform Protests in Israel - July 2023

While visiting Israel in July 2023, I photographed anti-government protests in response to the right-wing Netanyahu administration proceed with deeply unpopular judicial reforms which were proceeding through procedural votes in the Knesset at the time.

I photographed a major escalation in the resistance effort to Enbridge's Line 3 pipeline project, which endangers ecosystems and threatens wild rice harvested by the Ojibwe people.

'Justice for Daunte Wright'

On April 11, 2021, Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old Black man, was killed by Brooklyn Center police officer Kimberly Potter in a suburb outside of Minneapolis. Potter had stopped Wright for a traffic violation, when Potter, who had been with the police department for 26 years, allegedly mistook her handgun for her Taser and shot and killed Wright.

'I Can't Breath'

On May 25, 2020, George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who knelt on his neck for over eight minutes. The incident, caught on video, sparked outrage and sparked a global conversation about police brutality and racial inequality.

'Memorialize the Movement'

The Save the Boards to Memorialize the Movement is a campaign aimed at preserving the art and messages displayed on the plywood boards that covered businesses in Minneapolis following the killing of George Floyd in 2020. The campaign was started by a group of community members and artists who believed that the boards, which were covered in art and messages of support for the Black Lives Matter movement, were an important part of the city's history and should be preserved.
